Bike Culture

Japan  |  2017

I honestly don't know if I have ever heard any Japanese that don't know how to ride a bike. The kids even started learning how to ride one without the training wheels - I haven't seen any so far here!

What I love about this culture is that unlike in Australia, cyclists are allowed to cycle on the footpath and that they're not required to wear a helmet whilst cycling - because the road here is, generally, pretty safe. It's so normal for cyclists to share space with the pedestrians and no one gives you the dirty look for doing it. The other thing I like is most of them, like the rest of Tokyo, they dress sharply too - even sometimes in heels!

These are just some of the scenes I've captured so far and I'm hoping to keep adding more in the future.
